It’s our pleasure to introduce you to STARFI.
Diverse Electronic Music
Starfi’s musical career was sparked by the live performances of 80’s synth-pop pioneers several decades ago.
His early recognition and radio play paved the way for a transition to DJ performances, where he showcased an eclectic house/techno mix during the dance music revolution in the nineties.
This adaptability was further demonstrated when a German label released a few techno tracks under various pseudonyms, prompting Starfi to explore other areas of the genre.
Some progressive house (Beyond 3) and downtempo (Transmission/Ascension) singles were picked up by labels, whilst others snapped up an electro (Troll) and trance single (Belief), which led to more production work and remixes.
During this time, the more experimental and dub focus (Badagry, Remember The Future) became apparent, with vocals and rap accompanying the electronica (Speed Of Life, Innocent) and even dipping a toe into drum and bass (Time Machine Vol.3).
Still not one to settle in any specific genre, Starfi continues to write music based on mood and experimentation. If it feels good, it works. With four albums and a few EPs down the line, the music is just as diverse as it began!
With singles signed to Bonzai, Ters, AWJ Recordings, Pure Euphoria, The Soul Music, Calm Coastline Records and Genius Music (and whether the name appears as Starfi or Starfi Electronica), the “Runaway Droid” continues to reach out to the stars…
