Where is Exeter?
Located in the South West of England, the city is conveniently connected to Devon, Cornwall, London, and other destinations
Exeter is situated on the River Exe, approximately 36 miles northeast of Plymouth and 65 miles Southwest of Bristol.
Just 10 miles from Exeter and you will reach the South Devon coast. If you’re visiting, it makes sense to take a stroll along the Southwest Coast Path or spend a day on one of the many South Devon beaches.
Stretching to the east is the Jurassic Coast, more than thirty miles of stunning UNESCO World Heritage Coastline, part of the 95 miles charting 185 million years of the Earth’s history.
Getting to Exeter by Train
Exeter boasts two major railway stations: Exeter Central and Exeter St. Davids. Exeter St. Davids serves as a crucial hub on the cross-country line, connecting Scotland to Exeter with stops at major cities en route.
Direct trains from London are frequent, offering a convenient option for those coming from or via the capital.
By Bus or Coach
National Express and Megabus provide extensive coach services to Exeter from cities across the UK, making it an affordable option for everyone. Locally, the bus network is robust, connecting Exeter with surrounding attractions and towns, thanks to Stagecoach Southwest and other local services.
Exeter’s bus and coach station aims to promote green public transport in the city and rural communities following its modernisation in 2021.
Located between Bampfylde Street and Paris Street, it is close to the city centre. As well as regular bus services from around Exeter and Devon, the station is also a stop for National Express Coaches.
The facility is modern, with features such as glass-fronted covered waiting and boarding areas, information screens and high quality facilities.
By road

But for those who require to drive, Exeter is the final stop on the M5 motorway, linking the city directly with Bristol, Birmingham, and other major cities. Alternative picturesque routes via the A30/A303/M3 are perfect for those coming from the Southeast.
By air
Exeter International Airport is located approximately six miles from Exeter City Centre. Direct flights operated into Exeter from Paris, Dublin, Amsterdam, and Geneva. There are regular domestic flights from London, Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, and Newcastle.

There are various methods of transport to travel from the airport to the city, including taxi, bus, or car hire. There is a dedicated taxi desk at the airport, with a charge of approximately £25-35.
