The Business:
Portal Pizza has been serving up delicious, authentic pizzas in Exeter for nearly four years. What began as a lockdown project has now transformed into a popular culinary destination, capturing the hearts (and stomachs) of Exeter’s food enthusiasts.
The restaurant on Magdalen Road started as an ambitious project to convert an old launderette into a welcoming and vibrant pizzeria. The result is a lovable and lively space where the team has built on everything they learned at the Topsham Brewery location, innovating and topping their offerings.
Patrons can expect to indulge in delicious pizzas, tiramisu, affogato, espresso, carafe wine, and even negronis on tap.
The team’s passion for pizza extends beyond the UK, as the team recently travelled to Italy, visiting regions such as Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, and Lombardy to search for delicious produce and gather new inspiration.
Fair to say that Portal Pizza is authentic, fresh, and inspired by the best of Italian cuisine.

Portal Pizza and Exeter’s Local Music Scene
Portal Pizza’s love for music is deeply rooted in its team, Emily and Jack, who are avid gig-goers with a penchant for punk rock, hardcore, and indie music.
You’ll often find them catching shows at their favourite venue, The Cavern. Though their restaurant hasn’t hosted live performances yet, they are enthusiastic about collaborating with local musicians and are considering hosting small performances in the future.
They’re always looking for local talent and have a soft spot for bands like Big Shipping, Silk Cuts, Soot Sprite, and Pushbike.
The team are dedicated to celebrating the local venues and musicians that make Exeter a fantastic destination for music lovers.

Why It’s Important to Support Independent Businesses Like Portal Pizza
Portal Pizza believes that independent restaurants and venues are integral to Exeter’s culture and buzz. They create exciting opportunities for music fans – local and visiting – to experience Exeter to its fullest. By supporting independent businesses, patrons contribute to the vibrant culture that makes Exeter a dynamic city worth visiting.
Jack and Emily have some exciting gigs lined up, including Uranium Club in Bristol, The Marked Men in London, and Charli XCX in London.
They know firsthand that when you attend gigs, you’re also on the lookout for great places to eat, drink, and explore. It’s this same understanding that drives their passion for creating an independent space where music lovers and visitors to Exeter can enjoy both amazing pizza and a memorable experience.
Supporting indie businesses, just like supporting indie music, enhances the local economy and keeps the city’s spirit alive.
